  4. I had the opportunity to be able to use the 'Free trial' version of the ‘coreFX Suite’ and I must say that I am very impressed! From the first time I saw this new suite on the MAGIX website, I suspected it was just a new makeup for old known plugins (‘internalFX’), but in the exhaustive tests I did to convince myself, I was strongly convinced otherwise. The classic 'InternalFX' and the new 'coreFX' are definitely NOT the same thing - they are not even a mere dismemberment of the same thing! As I said before, the interface of this new suite was inspired by the classic plugins 'InternalFX' such as, for example, the 'coreFX 2-Point Compressor' is a clear allusion to the good old 'Advanced Dynamics' (in 'Compressor 2' mode). However, although it has been on the market for a long time, I have not seen any technical review so far. The available manual is outdated and does not provide satisfactory content. My biggest interest was to test the new 'coreFX Limiter'. Its interface is clearly coming from 'Advanced Dynamics' in 'Limiter' mode - which is good because immediately the new plugin presents itself as something very familiar! I spent hours doing tests on several different monitors with exported files. The devices I used for playback ranged from household items with common playbacks (even on two cars), to those in my father-in-law's studio, a more conducive and professional environment. As I focused exclusively on the new limiter, I cannot testify about the other processors - which now I have no doubt that they will also be able to surprise very positively. My hierarchy of limiters has always been spearheaded by AM-Munition, followed by the great processors from iZotope, in particular the 'Maximizer' and the 'Vintage Limiter'. The 'coreFX Limiter' gained space of honor in this hierarchy. In my tests, it proved to have a very pleasant saturation, which left him in a clearly victorious position in relation to the 'iZotope Maximizer' (in 'IRC IV' mode). The sound texture offered by these iZotope processors has always appealed to me a lot and the new 'coreFX Limiter', if calibrated accordingly, not only offers that same texture but also makes it more crystalline, clean, crisp and dynamically more remarkable - with him the music seems to breathe better. I dare say, yet, that this new limiter is better than the 'sMAX11', even though that the former one does not have 'True Peak'. To my ears, 'sMAX11' delivers a narrower sound when compared to 'coreFX Limiter', and this is probably due to the saturation built into the new processor - I can't say for sure, but that's my guess. Furthermore, it seemed to me that the new processor knows how to handle transients much better, even with the 'sMax11' configured in the 'Hard-Clipper' Modus - the result delivered by 'coreFX' is much more dynamic, so to speak. As a result, 'coreFX Limiter', as expected, delivered in my tests better quality than 'Advanced Dynamics' (in 'Limiter' mode), both with the same configuration - something very easy to obtain, since the former emulates the latter's interface. They are definitely not the same thing! The similarities with 'Advanced Dynamics', as said, are evident. A simple comparison of the images below eliminates any doubts regarding the source of inspiration. The same is true of the 'coreFX 2-Point Compressor' when compared to the 'Compressor 2' mode of 'Advanced Dynamics'. However, the similarities and my teasing stop there. While the quality of the plugins contained in the so-called 'InternalFX' package is unquestionably great, the new 'coreFX' processor suite, in my opinion, goes further and is a very welcome addition that maintains the Samplitude tradition in hosting excellent quality plugins. So, the new ‘coreFX Limiter’ deserves a place of prominence in the most ambitious and demanding arsenals of similar processors and should already be treated by the specialized press as another great professional limiter available, an adjective deserved with honor on merit!   6. Hello everyone! While I am still waiting for a final patch for the X4, I have been watching carefully the manifestations regarding the X5, which I intend to acquire in the future. However, I have not seen any comments regarding the new 'coreFX Suite' plugin package that comes with the X5 installation. I always suspected that it was just a 'facial break up' of the classic 'InternalFX', but as my tests with the X5 trial were very short, unfortunately I was unable to deepen my experience to reach a conclusion of my own. So, has anyone here ever had the opportunity to work more closely with this 'new' package? Are there any similarities with 'InternalFX' in terms of its application and sonic quality? Has anyone tested this 'new' coreFX Limiter and compared it with others already established? I thank you in advance for any manifestation.

  8. Hello. I had installed version 9.0.3 (10-day free trial) and the loading time of the plugins in Samplitude was impractical. This behavior has been reported in several other DAWS as well. Therefore, I temporarily give up on the product. I will download the trial of this new version. Let's see what will happen...

  11. Sorry, I'm late here... I don't have enough rights to display the work I used for my personal tests, but basically the difference between before / after came through a lot of attempt to calibrate the parameters contained in the "Expert Settings". More specifically, after configuring the "detection (feed-forward <-> feed-back)" with several possible combinations of the "dual-band clip stage", I managed to arrive at a result very similar and close to the iZotope Ozone limiters - mine favorites. We know that limiters react very differently and are very dependent on the program that passes through them, so, aware of this, I set out to run tests just to prove to myself how badly I was being strictly wrong with AM-Munition . For the specific material on which I dedicated myself to do the tests, I was able to witness the potential of this plugin, but I cannot guarantee that this behavior would be repeated with any other material. Still, there is a difference regarding the "low-end" that Ozone delivers that I was not able to fully replicate in AM-Munition. Ozone delivers more weight. iZotope Ozone (Maximizer / Vintage Limiter) has its own signature sound, which I like very much. AM-Munition has a very different infrastructure but, because it is very rich in the possibility of configuration, it has the capacity to offer desired results. My focus was to put AM-Munition against Ozone Maximizer (IRC IV - Modern) and Vintage Limiter (Tube). The latter (Tube) gave me the most trouble, mainly because I was putting a technology based on optical compressors against tube (feed-back) compressors. Sliding the aforementioned AM-Munition parameters to the right cautiously and judiciously, left me in a situation where there were moments during comparisons when I hardly knew how to distinguish one plugin from another. Ozone, however - as already said - delivered more weight and that was a determining differential for me and for those who helped me choose the way forward. But the decision was based on that particular work (heavy metal album), which certainly would not exclude the possibility of a different decision regarding another work material, even if it has the same musical genre. Choosing a limiter is very personal, surgical and occasional decision, in my humble opinion. Therefore, contrary to the mistaken sense that the title of this topic wanted to use, AM-Munition can sound as open ("cold") as it is closed ("warm"): it only depends on the skill of those who are able to master it.

  14. One final addition: after a few hours of ear cleaning and revisiting the projects used, that's right: I'm ashamed to have started this topic.
  15. I would like to take this opportunity to collect back all my words expressed through notorious ignorance. I spent all of this Sunday turning AM-Munition upside down and allowed it to do the same to me. So, it took me a while, but I managed to come to the conclusion that there is no limiter that it can't emulate. I am surrendered. I tried to capture all the saturation that iZotope Ozone "analog" plugins offer and managed to achieve with AM-Munition something close to, I would say, 90%. (90% is a subjective number and maybe flawed, but it serves to express the perfection I would like to achieve). Configurable feed-forward / feed-back detection has a lot to say about the thickness of the sound you are looking for. I thought this department belonged exclusively to the clipper's advanced parameters (saturation). A "warm", "full", "big", "vitaminized", "dense", "combative" and at the same time "clean/intelligible" sound: that was all I was looking for - AM-Munition delivers. I had a certain fear about Opto Compressors (its reputation for delivering a very clean / clear / "cold" sound), but the configuration possibilities offered by the plugin are so great that any hasty criticism is doomed to fall into ridicule. I give myself overdue, surrendered and satisfied. Much more than emulating the sound quality of those plugins, (the iZotope ones) AM-Munition is still ahead, with much more punch - if desired. It would be interesting to see the implementation of some new features, such as the ability to double-click numeric expressions and set the desired quantification without having to move the knobs. This may never happen because the brain behind this fantastic processor no longer works at MAGIX but, anyway, I leave here a record of something available to all Samplitude users that is worth a lot more than many processor packages: definitely, AM-Munition must not be forgotten! I finally managed to make AM-Munition the limiter I was looking for so long ago. So far from here. Just to be registered. Thanks and... apologies...
