  1. What version (both type and number, like Samp pro V9.2) are you using? On Sequoia V10.21 you have access to the drop down menu up to 384 kHz, but as I recall it was missing in earlier versions (you had to type if I remember well). It should appear on the program window title (like Samplitude 10.21 - [your project 192000 Hz .....]
  2. Not in front of Sequoia right now, but I think you need type the number 192000 in the box. best regards, Laurent.
  3. no, it should also work for high positive values... (zoom out) and yes do not click the "out of range" nodes.
  4. Well, to me it's quite logical: if you need to work in low volume values (or high) you can zoom in out vertically: on your example all points are readily visible on the track, so you don't need to zoom, but if you had points in low values for instance at -45 and you wanted to set them at -55, it might be useful to zoom in so that the automation values seen would be around -40 to -infinity instead of +6 to -infinity. (again I'm not in front of Sequoia right now, so the number are not exact). Laurent.
  5. To be true, I mostly use volume automation, and there it works, but never tried on pan for instance... (not in front of my Sequoia right now to further test) Laurent.
  6. menu "view" -- "Vertical" -- Zoom In Volume Automation and al. you can assign shortcuts.... Best Laurent.
  7. Hello, Pro Convert from SSL is indeed converting to and from PT7 sessions. It is an improvement over EDL Convert which worked only with PT5 sessions. Yes, but some complicated fades might not be accuratly reproduced, shape wise. Automation level will be translated. There is no object gain in PT. For the rest I have no idea. Why don't you ask SSL? Laurent.
  8. Hello, I use Sequoia for that purpose myself, but you have to be aware of several limitations, which are falling down little by little with each new versions, but still are important... You'll find answers to your questions below, but I should add the following: Time code chasing is not yet working, but I do hope it will work very soon (It is usable somehow, but you have to be aware of limitations, such as not positionnal LTC possible, no backward LTC, etc...). I still do use Sequoia with pleasure, especially the object based FX is a great tool for rerecording, and Samp own fx (denoiser, roomsim, eq, FFT filter, multiband dynamics, deesser, etc..) are very nice for post prod work... That is the real strength of this software. yes Export audio to AVI, not MOV. And only to a specific video file, not any selection of it. Not as Pro tools. so a yes and no: There exist for aux volume and Pan an object based automation, which could act as a first layer. Unfortunatly there is no way to transform regular automation into object automation (if you receive a PT project for instance..), and the drawing modes of object automation are less convenients, yet... I wish this will be improved some day... yes yes, there is a sync point, but it has 2 big drawbacks: -it is very difficult to see, it cannot be set of moved by mouse (only shortcut); when moving to cursor an object, it is always by the sync point (which by default is a the beginning). there is no choice wether by the beginning, sync or end... there are 2 tools: File Browser and Clip tool, but I find none very attractive alas. many features are missings. Yes, but there are still issues as there are 2 different kind of timestamp in Sequoia... and some operations do not support timestamp yet. Yes and no: it does not work on the main video, but you have a double video display for that... (but I still wish the video follow mouse movements would be a possible option...)I still find that, very generally, editing, crossfades, and managers are less convenient and well thought than Pyramix ones. Hope it helps. Laurent.
  9. Yes, it most probably is out of screen for some reason: screen resolution change, or going from dual display (2 monitors) to single display, etc...
  10. Indeed in France Samp/Seq seems undermarketed. But I understand why SCV doesn't push too far SamSeq into professional places: Sam/seq still lacks some features that most professionnal think unavoidable: Synchronisation issues, format support issues (bwf, iXML, EDLs), involvement of Sam/Seq with other manufacturers (see Pyramix relation with AAton, Sonosax, iXML, renters such as DCA, etc....), etc... While SampSeq uniqueness decided me to forget thoses issues, most others sound people or studio I know will not be willing to step into something with such lacks. Furthermore, it is always difficult to decide to use a tool not used by all the others (like PT), because it will always lead to some difficulties (being from project exchange to finding someone else knowing the machine to do a team for a specific project, or simply operate the studio etc..). So in order to overcome this, you have to have all the fundamental featuresready, plus something extraordinary. (with samseq, we have the extraordinary without the fundamental.) Pyramix succeeded here in France because they proposed a tool less expensive than PT, smaller (in size) than Protools, more efficient in Sync (impressively efficient I must say), recording, etc.. and as performant if not better for edition stuff. And because they have contact with many pro out there... and know more than themselves their needs: they give the feeling that the future issues due to new recorders, new cameras and editing fashion, where always thought out before they happened: they seemed like making the future, rather than following... (Ok it's a cheap sentence, but quite accurate). SampSeq there brought a lot of great innovations: FFT filter, IR reverb, and on top of all Object based effects. That was and is yet revolutionnary... But they seem simply ignoring most pro evolutions due to other manufacturers, leading to enormous changes in habits in our field, and that won't convince people to jump into the boat of SampSeq. I speak mostly for audiovisual postprod there, but I guess it also applies for the music industry, but probably less... All people I know in the music industry are using either PT or Pyramix... Plus from the pro side, Sam/seq seems to be lying in a too much homestudio league (maybe the lack of proprietary hardware, but also the fact that Magix as a lot of consumer software). And it's a feeling pro don't like most of the time.... this feeling is conforted by the aspect of visualisation for instance, or for the yet unperfect multichannel support (but V8 was a great improvement), and mostly because of lack of partnership with other pro manufacturers (it seems even Algorythmics is not there any more). Hopefully, SampSeq seems slowly to bring the missing features to life, and maybe V10 or 11 will be ready for a wide pro market (until now it seemed relevant for mastering only). That's my hope anyway. I could elaborate more off course on all this... Now I don't understand why there's not much energy put toward the home studio market in France... Best regards, Laurent.
  11. Drag a range over the word, and hit "del" Laurent.
  12. Normally, you should not have a VIP offset, only one in the media manager. calculate it to have either you 1st frame, or bip or start at 01:00:00:00. If I remeber correctly, when you enter the new offset in the media manager, you have to make sure it is well "entered" (clicking "enter" maybe), before closing the media manager, as some times it may not be taken into account (old memory, as now I use Sequoia, a bit different). the vip will still begin at 00:00:00:00, but who cares? it is even better like that. If by pop you are meaning a bip of 1 frame of 1 kHz, it is more often 2 seconds before 1st frame (so if 1st frame is at 01:00:00:00, the bip is at 00:59:58:00). And normally it should be already on the video as a black before the actual film, with a "start" image 10 sec before 1st frame, and a "1000" or white (etc..) frame at the bip. Hope it helps, Laurent.
  13. as volker said: so you can have your start or bip or first image beginning at 01:00:00:00. BTW, in the project properties you can set snap and grid to SMPTE frame, so that cursor goes from frame to frame (and simply disable snap to grid when you want to make edits not to frame). Best regards, Laurent.
  14. Agreed... It's still an annoying thing for me, and while I've managed to live with it, I relly hope it will be taken care of soon... Once the new engine will be completed, I hope to see a second revolution, a visual one! Best, Laurent.
