Help! Which Cpu Should I Buy?

Can anybody help me figure out if it is worth the extra $$ to buy a Pentium Core 2 Duo (a 2.4 ghz or 2.7 ghz approx.) rather than an older (and cheaper !) dual core Pentium D 945 3.4 Ghz? I don't know a lot about CPU's, but it is my undertanding that the newer Core 2's (and Core 2 Extreme's) are designed better and can run cooler. But is it worth it for whay I am doing? I have no clue how much the expensive Core 2's would benefit me. I'm not a gamer, I just want a nice system for Samp V9. A 3.4 ghz dual core Pentium D seems like a good choice. I know there are other factors, like how the CPU handles memory etc... Any suggestions out there? I'm running a LOT of tracks in V9 pro. Would V9 utilize a dual core Pentium D945? Currently I only have an old Pentium 4, 2.5 ghz.

hi jammy,

version 9 supports dualcore and multi cpu environments. the working threads will be split between those multiple cpu's.

but how much it will benefit you in your special case is more guessing then knowing...

i can only say: just try or visit someone who has your dream-DAW with sam9pro at his studio.

cheers, andy

hi andy and thank you. unfortunately, my dream DAW is likely going to be staying in my dreams

i'm curious if anbody using a dual-core with V9 has anything to say about it (marked improvement etc...) i would guess i'd see a very noticeable difference if i switched to a dual-core. but i am wondering if it matters so much, which dual core.

thanks, jammy
