Recording effect changes

Folks

I'm considering getting Samplitude, I have never used any DAW software in the past so have some fairly basic questions:

1) Can I record realtime effects changes? That is, during playback alter, say, the EQ on a track that get recorded. Then on next playback those changes are in the playback?

2) Can I hook up an external physical control surface to Samplitude and map sliders, etc to Sampitude functions? (Again, using the above example, I'd alter the EQ using physical sliders rather than mouse & dialog) ?

Thanks, sorry if these questions are ridiculously niave ;)

Not during record. Maybe with the tape-it plugin in tracks or with the mix-to-file-option for the whole master output.

Yes.
